INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES; 15th May.
International Day of Families is observe today, the 15th of May every year. It is observed globally amongst all world cultures.
United Nations recognizes the family as the basic unit of society. Following its increased concern about issues affecting families in society and regarding its role in economic growth and development, the United Nations General Assembly through one of its resolutions agree and adopted today as International day of Families.
The aim of the day is to reflect on the significance that the international community accords to the family as the basic unit of society, as well as voicing concerns regarding the current state of affairs for the family unit around the world.
Activities marking the day may include public exhibitions and discussions to deliberate on ideas that are relevant to the specific theme of the year. Some countries observe this day by developing a toolkits, while celebrations are organize targeting different sections of the population such as the teenagers, youths and young adults. So also seminars and forums to discuss the policies that concerns the family. The day provides a great opportunity for people to spend time in either their number or extended families.
Jumali and MDSCF and their target audience join the UN and the families around the world to celebrate the day.
