WORLD RADIO DAY, 13th FEBRUARY.
Radio is an essential part of media since the inception of information. Radio in those days used to be a reliable source of any formation from government.
Today, the 13th of February is observed as World Radio Day,. Radio continue to be one of the most trusted and accessible media in the world.
The day was proclaimed in 2011 by member state of UNESCO and adapted by UN General Assembly in 2021 as International Radio Day. UNESCO call on radio stations world wide to celebrate World Radio Day.
The day was celebrated to preserve the timeless media and create awareness of the importance of radio. People and media are encouraged to use radio for dissemination of information, networking and enhancing communication around the world.
Theme for this year “Radio and Trust” Yes to Radio, Yes to Trust.
Despite a global decline in trust in the internet and social media network, Radio continue to be seen by people as one of the most trustworthy news source.
To mark the day Messages and quotes are sent such as ; Inventors never vanish, Radio is something that has been connecting us with happening around the globe, Is an inseparable part of our lives that teaches us all dialogue, Tolerance and peace.
Jumali and MDSCF join the world of radio to commemorate the day.
