The 14th of June UN decleared it as world blood donor day.
This year’s observance is the 20th years of celebration of giving thanks to blood donor.
WHO is partnering with communities across the world they unite behind the theme.
2024 theme of celebration “20 years of celebrating, giving thanks to you blood donor.
The day was invented by WHO/ International Federation of Red cross and Red Crescent society in 2004.
The objective of the day is raising awareness of the necessity of safe transfusion of blood and it’s component, impacting knowledge regarding the importance of unpaid, voluntary blood donation, motivating people who are not interested in donating blood inspite of being healthy persons.
This year marks a momentous occasion to reflect on achievements and address challenges faced.
Slogan: a bottle of blood saved my life, was it yours? Blood owners should be blood donor, blood is meant for circulation, blood donor brings sunshine. Donate blood keep blood bank/ shelves full, you may need blood.
Activities for the day- how to thank blood donor e.g Dear ,…….. thank you for giving blood, it is because of generous blood donors ike you that the Red cross can help save live.
