WORLD TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION SOCIETY DAY (WTISD), 17th May.
Today is observed as world Telecommunications and information society day. It is a day observed by all the telecommunications and information stakeholders worldwide. It is an international day proclaimed in November 2008 by the International telecommunications union.
The day marks the founding of the International telecommunications union.
The purpose of the day is to help raise awareness of the possibilities in the use of ICT. It is also to promote awareness and appreciate the transformation technologies.
The day is traced back to commemoration of the two significant events in the history of global communication.
The year 2024 has its theme “Digital innovation for sustainable development”.
Activities for the day include all events and programmes organised aimed at promoting digital inclusion. Emphasis are on importance of bridging the digital divide. Calls are made to get involved in initiatives that promote digital literacy and provide access to communication technologies for underserved communities.
Jumali as a training academy has telecommunications and information in its training curriculum join the world of tele -communication and information to commemorate the day.
