INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LIGHT (IDL); 16th May.
International day of light was an anniversary of first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicst and engineer Theodore Mamman. It is UNESCO decleared. The day is a call to strengthen scientific cooperation and hannes. it’s potential to foster peace and sustainable development.
The day is a global initiative adopted by the UN to raise awareness of how optical technologies promote sustainable development and provide solution to worldwide challenges in energy, education, agriculture, communication and health.
The day also highlights the role of light in science, culture and arts, education.
Theme for the observance” Light in our lives”
Activities for the day stars as follows;
Throw a celebration, join an existing event, update your social media channels, take your own photos, paint with light, plan educational presentations, show off in IDL promotional pieces, hang posters and banners, share IDL video and host a speaker.
Jumali as a training academy and also non governmental organization join the world over to commemorate the day.
