The fourth Thursday in April every year is observed as International Girls in ICT Day. This year’s observance falls on the 25th of April. It is a UN declared day and observed by all UN member nations.
The day creates awareness on the need for more girls and women in the information and communication technology sector.
UN women and girls around the globe, mark the day by drawing attention to the critical need for more of girls and women in ICT. It stress the importance of girls in ICT and encourage more girls and young.
The day highlights the need to promote technology careers.
Theme for the 2024 commemoration “Digital skills for life” it seeks to promote technological proficiency.
Women and girls associations, groups, Women NGOs, CSO and INGOs working with women and girls around the world organise series of programmes to create awareness on the day.
Jumali and MDSCF as partners working for women and girls both at primary and secondary schools level join the world over to commemorate the day.
