WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY; 23rd April.
UN declared the 23rd of April every year as world book and copyright day. It is a UNESCO observed day by all member nations. The day is a symbolic date in the world of literature. It is a date on which several prominent authors who have died such as Williams Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and others are celebrated .
The day promotes the enjoyment of books and reading.
It is celebrated all over the world to recognize the scope of books- a link between the past and future, a bridge between generations and across cultures. It also means to encourage youngstar and elders to find innovative ways in reading books and resonate with their lives.
UNESCO and INGOs representing the three major sectors of the book industry (publishers, sellers and the libraries.
Activities of the day may include conferences organized by UNESCO and it partners to pay a word wide tribute to the book authors encouraging everyone to access book
