WORLD COTTON DAY; 7th October.
Today the 7th of October is observed as World Cotton Day, first launch in 2019 initiated by four cotton countries basically in Africa; Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mail being organised by World Trade Organization (WTO) This year marks fourth year of its observance.
The day creates awareness on the role in providing job and maintaining economic stability in the least developed countries. Also, highlighted is the development and promotion of cotton cultivation.
Each year, a theme is agreed by member countries to commemorate the day.
Events for this day may include dissemination of knowledge and giving assistance to cotton farmers, processors, researchers and other stakeholders about cotton production and marketing. The day. As a whole the day provides an impetus for economic development of farmers as well as developing nations.
