INTERNATIONAL DAY TO PROTECT EDUCATION FROM ATTACK; 9th September.
Today is observed as International Day to protect education from attack. It is was established by UNESCO declared by UN in its resolution viz;
A/74/275 and observed by all member Nations.
This year marks it fourth year. It represent an important opportunity to galvanized political commitment to protect education during conflict and other abnormal situations.
The day urges countries to respect and protect the rights to education in emergency situation and remind parties to armed conflicts.
Activities for the day are targeted towards expanding scope and impact of the attacks on education and call on all stakeholders to take a major steps to protect students, educators, schools and universities. Some of which may include endorsing and implementing the safe school declaration etc.
Seminars, conference and exhibitions were some of the activities for the day.
