INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY; 12th AUGUST.
Every 12th day in the month of August is declared as International Youth Day.
Youth are those in the ages of 15 -24 as described by UN, though these ages vary.
This started in the year 1985 and since then it has become an annual observance engaging the youth all over the world aiming at creating awareness on how to make the lives of young people better in such as area of Poverty, Intergenerational Relationship, Education, Environment, Drug Abuse, Employment, Participation in Health, HIV and AIDS programmes, Girls and young Women, Globalization, Leisure, Communication Technologies and Youth Delinquency, these have been chosen as those that are of the greatest concern for the youth.
In a nut-shell, the day is aimed at raising awareness of the young people encounter around the world and promoting International Youth Day activities.
Youth Associations, NGOs, Government agencies and Civil Societies Organizations working with youth and their associates organise different events to draw attention of the youth and the authority to come to their aid.
Jumali as one of such, join the youth around the world to observe the day.
