Trafficking in persons is a modern day slavery and became a worldwide problem. The UN aim on this day is to raise awareness and prevention of its menace.
Thousands of men, women and children end up in the hands of traffickers every year, often tricked and mislead to believe that they are taken to work that will make their family better off, or through force, kidnap, or even through very poor families selling children in order to survive. Many ways are involved but the consequences remain the same viz loosing their rights and identity and are used and abused, it is a global problem. We often describe it as an Industry not far behind drugs and arms in terms of profit for traffickers.
Jumali and MDSCF are two organizations working with women and girls teenagers well-being as their target, most importantly are prone to trafficking join the world over to commemorate the day.
