WORLD HEPATITIS DAY ; 28th July.
World hepatitis day is observed on the 28th of July every year. It is a UN declared day and observed by all member Nations.
The day is aimed at bringing the world together under a single theme annually.
The day is important as it raises awareness on the viral hepatitis. The day was chosen to coincide with the birthday of Nobel prize winning scientist Dr Barunch Blomberg who discover hepatitis B virus and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.
The day gives an opportunity to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change.
The theme for the year 2023 “We are not waiting” this gives an upper hand to celebrate the action individuals take in their own lives everyday.
The President of the World Hepatitis Association Danjuma Adda said”it is a global initiative to raise awareness about hepatitis and it’s impact on millions of lives.
Civil Society Organizations, INGOs, Non Governmental Organizations, government agencies working on health related issues call on people around the world to take action because hepatitis can’t wait.
Series of events are organised including customize campaign in variety of languages and ideas for ways you and your organization can get involved.
Jumali and MDSCF join the world over to observe the day.
