Women and Girls are vital components of the world and they have contributed a lot to the development of every society especially in science and technology.
The 11th day of February every year is observed as International day for women and girls in science.
The United Nations General Assembly in its resolution held on the 22nd December 2015 declared the 11th of every February in oder to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls and to further achieve gender equality.
The day recognizes the critical role, women and girls play in science and technology.
Being a day designated for women and girls to rate the progress made over the years, though they still often face various barriers and challenges.
The day amplify the sound role women and girls play in science and technology.
NGOs and women groups globally observe the day in a variety of ways which could be in a small or big way, in either of the two ways, their actions will add collective voice towards addressing the challenges faced by women and girls in general.
