INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LITERACY DAY; 8TH JANUARY.

International day of literacy is also called World literary day.
The term literary is a term that relates to literature, knowledgeable of the literature or writing appropriate to literature.

Literacy is the ability to read, understanding of something eg computer literacy.
The day is a United Nations declared. It is aim at highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. It is to raise awareness to the problem of illiteracy.
Non Government Organizations, the writers’ engagement, various companies and charity organizations that support the fight against illliteracy.
Illiteracy is prevailing among adult men and women, children with majority being women who are at the receiving end. The children may be out of school, or attend irregular school or may be a drop out.

There is still linkage between illiteracy and severe poverty, and between illiteracy and prejudice against women.
Civil Society Organizations, Non Governmental Organizations, faith based Organizations and other stakeholders maintain the call on illiteracy and the need for public to be awaken.
