GLOBAL MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY WEEK. 24th October.
The 24th to 31st of October annually marks a long week to observe the Global media and information literacy week. It is a United Nations declared week, which is a major occasion for stakeholders to review and celebrate the progress achieved towards media and information literacy for all.
This year marks the 11th observance of global media and information literacy week. It stated in 2012 by UNESCO. This year’s commemoration will be hosted by Nigeria Global Media in cooperation with UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance, Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue, University Network and other partners.
As part of the activities the Symposium will hold amidst other activities, sharpening how to access, search global media and information literacy.
The event will also address the growing trend of fake news, information and hate speeches.
Theme for the the year “Nurturing trust- a media and information literacy imperative” It is targed #GlobalMILweek. An online or offline, intercultural dialogue conference and youth agenda forum will also be organized by stakeholders in the field of information dissemination.
Jumali and MDSCF join the global media and information literacy today to commemorate with the week long events in creating awareness of the day.
