Global hand washing day is a day dedicated as a global advocacy to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives
Today is observed as Global hand washing day. It is an annually declared and observed by all UN member Nations on the 15th of October.
The day serves as an international hand washing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their hand washing habits. Hand washing is a critical points during the day and washing with soap with a call “Our hand, our future”
Theme for the year 2022 “Unite for Universal hand hygiene”
It is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times leveraging the learning from recent years, the time to accelerate hand hygiene progress is now and it requires a collective effort to enact real change. As the world moves beyond Covid-19 to our very normal, we must unit for Universal hand hygiene.

NGOs, Civil Society Organizations and other relevant Organizations including government agencies working on health related issues organise seminars and other advocacies event to create awareness on this day.
