INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 11th October.
United Nations General Assembly has in one of its resolutions declared 11th of October every year as International Day of the Girl Child. It started on11 October, 2012. This year marks the ten year of its observance.
The day’s aim among others is to promote girl’s empowerment and fulfilment of their human rights as well as addressing challenges faced by girls all over the world.
The day focuses mostly on their education and child marriage, access to services regrading puberty and sexual health and addressing issues around gender-based violence, and their protection.
Theme for the year 2022 ; ”Our time is now, our rights, our future”.
Event and activities commemorating the day may include; marches, concerts, sporting events etc
Globally girls are now taking over key roles in business, politics, sports, etc.
Jumali and MDSCF partners in progress join the girls all over the world and the UN member Nations to commemorate with every girl child on the occasion.
