WORLD TEACHERS DAY; 5th October.
Today is World teachers’ day, a day set aside by the UN. It is observed annually on this day and celebrated by teachers in all member countries.
The day is known and called International Teachers’ Day.
The day was established in 1994 to commemorate the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO recommendation concerning the status of teachers.
The recommendation outlines standard relating to education personnel policy, recruitment and initial training as well as the continuing education of teachers, their employment, and working condition. The aims of the world teachers day is focus on “appreciating,, assessing and improving the educators of the world” and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.
Activities commemorating this may include mounting campaigns to help the world understand the role played by teachers in the development of students and Society. On this day, UNESCO and International Educational partners with other stakeholders including private and government agencies work on education and related matters. This is done every year in line with the theme assigned for the year.

Theme for this year 2022 as agreed by UNESCO is “Transforming of education begins with teachers”

Jumali as a training academy, a civil society organizations having trained teachers as their instructors and facilitators join the teachers around the world to observe the day and also add their voices to the call on the theme.
