INTERNATIONAL EQUAL PAY DAY, 18th September.

The United Nations General Assembly on 15th of November 2019 adopted a resolution agenda 74/251, 70 promotion and protection of human rights and declare 18th of September as International Equal Pay Day.
The day is observe by all member Nations. It is aimed at raising awareness around pay gaps that existed.

Civil Society Organizations, NGOs, Civil Liberty Organizations and other trade unions on this day calls for equal pay for jobs of equal value, it is a recognized and stated among the rights in United Nations Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

This year’s event is marked by a webinar on tackling the gender pay gap that will discuss issues raised in International labour Organization (ILO) paper.

International Trade Union Coalitions calls on all government to adopt Laws and reforms to close the persistence global gaps with emphasis on pay equity now.

Theme for the year “March madness, the pay gap is Madness” it is aim at raising awareness around this pay gap in our jobs.

Jumali and MDSCF join the ILO and other Civil Society Organizations around the world to add their voices to the call for equal pay for jobs of equal value.
