INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING; 26th JUNE.

The 26th of June every year is observed as the International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. It is a United Nations declared day, instituted by general the Assembly Resolution 42/112 of 7 December 1987.
It was often referred to by Anti- Drug campaigners as 2/26.

The aim of the day is to raise awareness on the major problem that illicit drugs represent to the society. Also recognizes the severe impact that Illicit drugs have on health, development, peace and security. It is a known fact that each year people die due to illicit drugs.

Activities marking the day is supported by individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world to address the menace, which is done through seminars, advocacy, workshop and online programmes.

Jumali as a training academy, a Non- Governmental Organization having drug abuse and illicit trafficking as one of the curriculum in her training modules commemorate with the UN member countries and other organizations working on drug and drug abuse to observe the day.
