INTERNATIONAL ALBINISM AWARENESS DAY, 13th JUNE.
United Nations declare 13th June every year as International albinism awareness day. It is a day set aside to create awareness on albinism. Albinism derived from albino, a defect of skin caused by lack of Melanin that changes color of the skin of Human. There are different causes of albinism, they are all human and are not be discriminated. They organize themselves into groups and pursue a common demand from authorities. Most of them are talented, gifted and held from different backgrounds and hold position in their live endeavors.
Theme is drawn every year to address the challenges faced and ways to overcome it.They voice out their needs and support from Government and Non Governmental Organizations toward addressing challenges
Activities commemorating the day may range from rallies, seminars, symposium, talk shows, and on-line programs with representatives of the group to point out their demands.
Jumali as a training academy and a non Governmental Organization join the United Nations member countries today to commemorate with albinism groups in creating awareness. We also call on the world over not to discriminate as they have a role to play towards community development as as contribute their quota too. Happy International albinism awareness day from JTSLTA.
