WORLD TUBERCULOSIS(TB) DAY; 24th MARCH

WORLD TUBERCULOSIS(TB) DAY; 24th MARCH.
Today is World tuberculosis day. The day was declared by United Nations observed by all members. It is meant to raise public awareness about the devastating health caused by TB.
The day is observed annually to commemorate Dr Robert Koch’s announcement of his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes TB.
Each year a theme is drawn, this year’s theme is “Invest to End TB. Save lives to convey the urgent need to invest resources to ravamp the fight against TB and to achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.

International Non Governmental Organizations and other Civil Society Organizations to organise activities to commemorate the day, some of which include seminars, on-line talk show Radio and TV live programs where professionals are invited to discuss on the global trend of TB which may also include causes, risk of infection and the preventive measures.

Jumali and MDSCF join the World Health Organization(WHO), Government organizations and the civil society organizations working on health and health related issues to observe the day.
