ZERO DISCRIMINATION DAY; 1st MARCH.

ZERO DISCRIMINATION DAY; 1st MARCH.

Today is Zero Discriminations Day,
It is universal in nature, first celebrated in 1st March 2014, since then, it has become an annually observed day by United Nations(UN) member countries and other International Non Governmental Organizations. Also, World Health Organization(WHO) highlighted it as the day for right of all people to live healthy and productive with dignity, regardless of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis or STI status.

The aim of the day is to promote equality before the law and in practice throughout all the member countries of the United Nations.

Activities to commemorate the day by Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders include sensitization seminars, workshops and other outreaches to inform the world at large on the importance of the day.

Theme for this year by UNAID is “Remove laws that harm, create laws that empower”.
It signifies the ardent need to fight and take action against the myriad of discriminatory laws in multiple countries that result in people being treated differently.

Jumali and MDSCF join the rest of the world to celebrate the day.
Happy Zero Discriminations Day from JTSLTA and MDSCF
