INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE, 11TH FEBRUARY.
Women and girls are important segment of our Society and their presence in our society contributes to the social, moral and cultural significance of our daily affairs.
Today, the 11th day of February is observed as International Day for Girls in science. It is a United Nations declared day and observed by all member Nations.It was a resolution by the UN General Assembly on 22 December 2015 that brought about the day in order to achieve full and equal access for participation in science for women and girls and further achieve gender equality and parity
The day recognizes and amplifies the critical role which women and girls play in science and technology.
Despite the progress over the over the years, women and girls still face various and compounding barriers and challenges thereby bringing out a sustainable solution for progress.
The day is celebrated in a variety of ways by the he stakeholders ie women and girls associations, groups, schools among others, these may include
Rallies, Road shows, TV/Radio programs and school activities to raise awareness on the subjects.
Theme for this yearis ‘Achieving Gender Equality and the Empowerment of all Women and Girls’. Your action will add to the collective voice.
