The day is marked to renew commitment and show solidarity to poor. The day is traced back to 17th October, 1987 where over hundred thousand people gathered at the Tracadero in Paris where the Universal declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948, to honor the victims of extreme poverty, violence and hunger. The International Day of the Girl child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations; the day is also called the day of the Girls, it is the first day of the Girl child.
