WORLD REFUGEE DAY, 20TH JUNE.
WORLD REFUGEE DAY, 20TH JUNE.
World Refugee Day is observed on the 20th day of every June, it is a United Nations declared day aimed to create awareness on the plight of Refugees.
Refugee is a person who has been forced to leave his country in order to escape war, persecution or natural disasters. Tens of thousands of Refugees flee their house to a place different from their homes to a secured place often provided by government or International Non Governmental where humanitarian aids are provided to comfort them.
The day is observed in more than 100 countries and involves government officials, humanitarian workers, celebrities, civilians and Refugees.
The UNCHR encourages people to mark the day by attending local World Refugee Day, watching and sharing videos and raising awareness on social media
A call is also made for investment in communities that host Refugees to help ease the pressure on the host and to help Refugees become self-reliant.
Jumali and MDSCF join the world over to observe this day
