What is blood? It simply means combination of plasma and cells that circulate though the body. It is a specialised bodily fluid that supplies essential substance around the body eg sugar, oxygen and hormones, also help to remove waste from the cells in the body.
world blood donor day is observed on every 14th June. The is aimed at raising awareness of the need for safe blood and blood product. The day also was ment to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life saving gifts of blood. It is one of the eight official global public health campaign marked by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Transfusion of blood and blood products helps and save millions of lives every year. It can help patient s suffering from life threatening condition s live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedure.
Activities to mark the day include awareness creation on the importance of blood donation through out reaches, online programs to draw attention of volunteers who are unpaid to donate regularly.
Jumali and MDSCF partners in progress join the world over to commemorate the day and also call on the public to donate for humanity and life saving.
