WORLD METEOROLOGICAL DAY ; 23rd MARCH.
World Meteorological Day is a United Nations(UN) declared and observed day.
Meteorology is a science that deals with the study of atmosphere and its phenomena especially with weather and weather forecasting.
This day create awareness and educate the world on the atmospheric aspect including the daily weather conditions and forecast of the weather to be experience for a particular place, region over a period of time.
The day also enlighten the general public on the possibilities of climatic change, environmental lapse rate.
This day was propagated by the World Meteoroligical Organization which is an Inter-governmental Organization with a membership of 193 Member States and Territories. It followed on from the International Meteorological Organization which is a Non Governmental Organization.
Activities marking the day include seminars, TV/Radio talk shows by the professionals, on-line media programmes among others. They are mostly observed by associations of the climate and climate change both in-school and out of school, government agency all aiming at promoting the day.
Jumali as an organization empowering the teenagers in the society join the meteorological organizations and government agencies to promote this day.
