Elimination simply means the act expelling or throwing off.
Racial means of or relating to a race or a people.
Discrimination means a distinct treatment of an individual or group to their disadvantage or consideration based on class or category rather than individual.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is a day observed annually on the 21st of every March.

A call is made to International community to redouble their efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination among indiduals, groups irrespective of status, class, level and others among all humans. The day seek to commemorates the lives of those who died while fighting for democracy and equal human right as it has happened in South Africa during aparthied, an institutionally racist system built upon racial discrimination and this seem to be practiced in that country now.
Events include sensitizations, awareness, TV/Radio talk shows, online activities are prominent during this day by Civil Societies Organization across the world to enlighten the public on the importance of the day.
