WORLD CANCER DAY; 04 FEBRUARY.
Cancer is a disease in which the cells of a tissue undergo uncontrolled(and often rapid) proliferation.
Figurative; Cancer means somethhing which spreads within something else damaging the later. There are different tissues that cancer affect and cause alot of damage to both humans. & World Cancer Day is a United Nations decleared Day and its observed on every 4th of February by all member nations. It is a day set aside to raise awareness on Cancer as a disease and to encourage its prevention, early detection and treatment as well as to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. It is also aimed at raising awareness, and reduces stigma, show support for those affected by cancer and cancer related illments.
Government agencies, ministries and parastatals of health, INGO’s, NGO’s, Corporate organizations, CBO’s as well as CSO’s who are into health and health related programmes organise campaigns to raise awareness on the menace of Cancer and its preventive measures, some of which include: Rally, seminar, sensitizations, information materials distribution(leaflet, bilboard etc), TV/Radio talk shows, Walk/Match/Run show among others.
Every year there came with its theme which all are centered towards countering the negative attitude and false belief on cancer and its related issues.
Jumali and MDSCF join the rest of the world and its sister NGOs to commemorate with the day.
