INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY; 9 DECEMBER.
Corruption is an act of corrupting of impairing, integrity, moral principles. Also mean state of being corrupted or debased, lost of purity or integrity, depravity, wickedness, impurity, bribery.
Corruption a worldwide pandemic which if not tackled will have impact on socio-economic and cultural welbeing of the society.
Today is observed as International Anti-corruption Day aimed at raising public awareness for anti-corruption and concerned about the seriousness of the problems and threats posed by corruption in the stability and security of societies, undermining the institutions and values of democracy, ethical values and justice and jeopardizing sustainable development and the rule of law.
A call made was to promote and strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption more efficiently and effectively.
Civil societies, NGOs and INGOs worldwide organised and participate in activities ie seminar, rally, symposium, lectures aimed at creating awareness on the menace of the corruption and way forward. Information materials like t-shirts, face caps, billboards, leaflets are distributed to the public at various locations all aiming at
promoting facilitating and supporting international cooperation and technical assistance in the prevention of and fight against corruption and also to promote integrity, accountability and proper management of public affairs and public property.
Jumali in partnership with MDSCF are adde their voices in raising awareness on corruption and its consequencies.
Themes are coined out every year to commemorate the day.
E.g. Stop the corruption for progress.
