UNITED NATIONS DAY 24TH OCTOBER.
United simply means joined into a single entity, involving the join activity of multiple agents. Also could be a group of people sharing aspect of language, culture and/or ethnicity. While Nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, teritory, econonic life and psychological make-up manifested in a common culture.
The two when combined could simply mean a group of people who are joined together into a community on a basis.
UN Day as it popularly known marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations came into being.
The day has been celebrated since 1948. The United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be celebrated by Member States as public holiday.
Jumali and MDSCF celebrate the day by joining the member nations in its observance , all in a bid to create awareness on the day.
