INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHARITY, 5th September.
The day is observed by the United Nations annually on this Day .
Charity is simply defined as An attitude of kidness and understanding towards others. It also means benevolence to other less fortunate ones other than ourselves as well as the provision of goods or money to those in need. Charity could also mean an Organisation, the objective of which is to carry out charitable services with no intension to make profit .
Charity is like the notion of volunteerism and philanthropy, provides real social bonding and contributes to the creation of exclusive and more resilient societies.
The day’s objective was to sensitized and mobilized people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to help others through volunteerism and philanthropic activities.
Charity can alleviate the worst effects of humanitarian crises, supplement public services in health care, education, housing and child protection. It assist in the advancement of culture, science, sports, and the protection of cultural and natural heritage.
Charity also promotes the rights of the marginalized and underprivilegde and spreads the message of humanity in conflict situations.
Activities to marked this day include seminars, rally, among others. Visitations to the vulnerable and less privilagde homes in the society and also to IDP camps to canvass for help and provide them with support to cushioned their pains.
Jumali and MDSCF join the charity organizations around the world to support to people in need.
