WORLD POPULATION DAY. 11th July.
Today is observed as World Population Day, it is annually observed to create an awareness the world over on meaning of population and the challenges faced.
The term population refers to number of people dwelling in a particular place at a particular time, or the total of people inhibited in a place at a particular point in time.
The world popuation increases day by day due to somany reasons as it obtained in almost all countries of the world. These reasons could stem from availability of medical facilities, cultural and religious, improvement in the standard of living among others.
As the population keeps increasing, problems emanet,
Some which include pressure on social aminities and land, poor quality education increase in poverty, shortage of land , traffic congestion, pollution of differnt kind, spread of diseases, among others.
As we are observing this day, we are calling on Government and Government agency, Non- governmental Organisations are encouraged to enlighten the populance on the dangers posed by the population.
Activities marking the day include seminars, sensitazation, printing and distributions of information material, lectures on the importance of the day.
