3rd May World Press Freedom Day

It is World Press Freedom Day today, it is observed on 3rd May Every Year. Information is power and can only be gotten from the press people.
Press have tremendous role played worldwide and this role could not be over emphased. Press are referred generally as mass media and they include the prints, audio-visuals, visuals that transmit informations from one place to another ie from the source to the right people who need it once it conforms with the ethics, norms and values of the mass media after being subjected to the law of the mass media.
The Press operate under constitution and are therefore free to operate once the constitution, ethics, norms and values are strictly obeyed by its members.
As we are observing this day today, we must remember that our press men and women are exposed to numerous dangers and hazard of the pandemic of covid-19 in the world over, we are calling on the general public, indiduals, CSOs, INGOs, NGOs, as well as Coporate Organizations to support the Media people with the relavant information needed on the covid-19 pandemic so that the general public can access it so as to guide against contracting the pandemic. The media too can be supported to opetate freely in a secured environment free from the pandemic.
Some members of the press are already contracted with the pandemic as such we are calling on government to support the affected ones with all the needful and also provide the un- affected with the protective materials as their work are vital to the society.
