2nd April of every year is observed as International Children’s Book Day. While we are in lockdown and observing stay at home in an effort to prevent the spread of corona virus as well as observing the safety and preventive measures, we should also be aware that today is meant to create awareness to children on the pandemic of corona virus. Activities marking the day include writing competitions, announcements of books award and events with authors of children’s literature.
In the observance of the day. prominent authors are invited from the host country to write a message to the children of the world and a well – known illustrator to design a poster. These materials are used in different ways to promote books and reading. It is also promoted by the media and also activities are organized in schools and public libraries. The day is also linked to celebrations around children’s books and other special events, writing competitions or announcements of book awards.
As the world is faced with these pandemic of corvid-19, we call on the authorities concerned to write on the said issue of the day so that children will be carried along on this awareness of corvid-19 preventive practices. Jumali Leadership in partnership with MDSC Foundation join the world over especially children to mark this day.
