Today is another very important day to all female organisations,NGOs and INGOs and those working with or for the women and girls all over the world to come to their aid. The day is known as International Day of Zero Tolarance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)It is observed 6th February every year.
The day was aim to creat awareness to eradicate female genital mutilation. The abolition of such practices must be prompt.
This is a movement for the rights of women and their bodies, as well as the protection of their physical- health which can be tremendously affected later in life, fighting violence against women and girls as a whole. It is an effort to make the world aware of FGM and promote its eradication. Volunteers will use their resources and voice to protest against FGM in their countries. The young girls went to measures as deep as coming face to face with the one who cut them, to confronting their fathers/authority, to petitioning using resources such as change organ.
Jumali and MDSCF as partner organisations working for the girls and women empowerment join other sister organistions the world over to contribute their quota in creating awareness in curbing the menace of FGM and call on all to support in the fight.
