INTERNATIONAL DAY TO END IMPUNITY FOR CRIMES AGAINST JOURNALIST. 2nd Nov.
Have you heard about this day before ? If No , the read this piece from JTSLTA. This day is called International Day to End Impunity for Crime Against Journalist, It is an United Nations recognized day observed annually to draw attention to the global conviction rate for violent crimes against journalist and media workers. These individuals play a critical role in informing and influencing the public about important social issues. As such, impunity for attacks against them has particularly damaging impact, limiting public awareness and constructive debate.
On this day, organisations and individuals worldwide are encouraged to talk about the unresolved cases in their countries and write to government and intra-government officials to demand action and justice.
Also awareness-rising campaign on the safety of journalist and the danger of impunity. Other events held by civil society groups throughout the world include advocacy initiatives relating to the day and their freedom.
