INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OZONE LAYER. 16th Sept. This day was set aside to creat awareness to the public on the need to preserved the thin ozone layer of the earth. What is ozone? It is a colourless unstable toxic gas with a pungent odour and powerful oxidizing properties formed from oxygen by electrical discharges or ultraviolentlight. It is very dangerous to our health welbeing. Ozone layer is a layer in the earth’s stratosphere at an altitude of about 10km containing a high concentration of ozone, which absorbs most of the ultraviolent radiation reaching the earth. But human activities tends to destroy this layer resulting to consequences of global warming, rise in evapo- transpiration, increase in action of tides and lots more, this calls for the layer to be protected and preserved. The day call on Government agencies, Private sectors, Individual and NGOs and others to join hand with the world over in the preservation of this important layer of the earth. We at Jumali in partnership with MDSCF join the world over to creat awareness on the day. Happy International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. From JTSLTA/MDSCF.
